Only by the blood of Jesus

Read Hebrews 10:1-25

Under the law the Jews were required to offer sacrifices.  They had to continually year after year offer these sacrifices. Why?  Because they were not enough to cover their sins.   If these sacrifices had been enough, they would not have had to be continually offered, v2 “For then would they not have ceased to be offered”.  The blood of bulls and goats could not make us right with God.

However when the Lord Jesus Christ died, things were very different.  The Lord Jesus Christ died once, and once was enough.  The blood of Jesus Christ can cover our multitude of sins, and make us right with God.  His death was the only thing that could make us right with God, and dying once He bought for His seed (those who believe in Him as their Lord and Saviour) eternal life, and bridged the gap between them and God.

“For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified” 

Romans 10:14

By dying for us, the Lord Jesus Christ reconciled believers with God, and the veil that separates us us from the most Holy was torn in two.  We can draw near to God because of Jesus!  

¹⁹ Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, ²¹and having a High Priest over the house of God, ²² let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. ²³ Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
