How free are you?

We often talk about “Christian freedom”, but sometimes we don’t actually feel that free as Christians. What is true Christian freedom?
Read: John 8:31-36 - http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=john%208:31-36&version=NKJV
Definition of abide: Accept or act in accordance with (a rule, decision, or recommendation): “I would abide by their decision”.[1]
I was recently watching a video of a sermon by Rob Joy on true biblical freedom. It is worth a watch, and I would really recommend it – http://vimeo.com/23789151
In verse 24 Jesus tells us “…whoever commits sin is a slave of sin”. Sometimes we as Christians have one hand on Jesus, and one hand still in the world. This is unhealthy, and we need to be set free! As Christians we should be living to serve and to please God and God alone. When you do something, think for a moment – “Am I doing this to please man, to please myself, or to please God?”
We need to live our lives with both eyes on God, we need to be hungry for more of God and we should learn to abide in His word. Its one thing saying that you believe what God says, but do you agree with it? Do you agree that His way is best? When you move into the place when you can agree that Gods way is best, it takes a whole weight of your shoulders. When you can say “I’m doing this because it is what God has told me to do, and I agree that His way is best for me”, or “I’m not going to do this, because God has said it is wrong and I agree with Him that it is wrong” you feel so free!
Jesus says if we abide in His word, then we shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free. God doesn’t what us to pursue the things the world wants, but to seek after Him.
Are you free?
